Obverse The portrait is of Maximinus Daia a laureate bust facing right. The legend reads GAL VAL MAXIMINVS NOB CAES meaning: GAL (Gaius) VAL (Valerius) MAXIMINVS (his name) NOB CAES (Nobilitas Caesar / Royal Heir to the throne).
Reverse The reverse shows Genius standing left holding a patera in his right and a cornucopia in his left hand he has a modius on his head and is wearing a chlamys. The legend reads GENIO CAESARIS which translates as "To the spirit of the Caesars"
Mint The exergue reads ALE which stands for the mint of Alexandria with an e epsilon in the right field for the fifth officina. Also the letters K for Kappa (in the left field) and P for Rho (in the right field) appear on the coin.
The Entire Story This coin was minted between 308 and 311 A.D. after the conference at Carnuntum where Constantine and Maximinus Daia were (to their disappointment) named Filii Augustorum (sons of the emperor). This coin is dedicated to their Genius and is probably struck to let them, and the people know that they both were very important and worthy of worship.
