Obverse | The portrait is of Constantius II a diademed and draped bust looking right. The legend reads CONSTANTIVS PF AVG meaning: CONSTANTIVS (his name) PF (Pius Felix / Dutiful and Wise) AVG Augustus which defines him as the emperor. The legend is broken which is a sign of the highest respect and signifies him as the senior Augustus. |
Reverse | Two victories standing facing each other holding wreaths. The legend reads VICTORIAE DD AVGG Q NN which translates as Victoriae Dominorum Augustorum Que Nostrorum which means Victory to our lords and emperors. The double letters are all implying plurals for the two emperors who where ruling at the time (Constantius II and his brother Constans). |
