Coin Description Constantine II , AE 18 mm, Grade??, The coin is well centered although some parts on the reverse legend are missing, VM 45, RBC 365.
Obverse The portrait is of Constantine II a laureate and cuirassed bust facing right. The legend reads CONSTANTINVS IVN NOB C meaning: CONSTANTINVS (his name) IVN (junior/the younger to distinguish him from his father with the same name) NOB C (Nobilitas Caesar / Royal Heir to the throne).
Reverse The reverse shows two soldiers on either site of two standards, each holding an inverted spear (signifying peace) and leaning on a shield. The legend reads GLORIA EXERCITVS which translates as "Glory of the Army" or "Glory to the Army".
Mint The exergue reads CONS ? which stands for the Constantinople mint , the last letter is unfortunately not readable but it would have identified the officina.
The Entire Story The entire story of this coin would read: Constantine the younger the royal heir to the throne who honors the army.
