Obverse | The portrait is of Constans a diademed, draped and cuirassed bust looking right. The legend reads CONSTANS PF AVG meaning: CONSTANS (his name) PF (Pius Felix / Dutiful and Wise) AVG Augustus which defines him as being the emperor. The legend is broken which is a sign of the highest respect and signifies him as the senior Augustus |
Reverse | Two Victories standing facing eachother with wreaths held aloft over a palm branch (the wreath and palm branch are symbols of Victory). The legend reads VICTORIAE DD AVGG Q NN which translates as Victoriae Dominorum Augustorum Que Nostrorum which means Victory to our lords and emperors. The double letters are all implying plurals. |
