Coin Description Constans, AE 16mm, Grade?? , The coin is struck off-centre causing the left part of the obverse legend and the lower part of the reverse legend to be missing. RBC 398, VM 57
Obverse The portrait is of Constans a diademed, draped and cuirassed bust looking right. The legend reads CONSTANS PF AVG meaning: CONSTANS (his name) PF (Pius Felix / Dutiful and Wise) AVG Augustus which defines him as being the emperor. The legend is broken which is a sign of the highest respect and signifies him as the senior Augustus
Reverse Two Victories standing facing eachother with wreaths held aloft over a palm branch (the wreath and palm branch are symbols of Victory). The legend reads VICTORIAE DD AVGG Q NN which translates as Victoriae Dominorum Augustorum Que Nostrorum which means Victory to our lords and emperors. The double letters are all implying plurals.
Mint Can't be determined as only the uppermost part of the letters can be seen.
The Entire Story The entire story of this coin would read: Victory to our lords and emperors, a tribute to both the ruling emperors (being Constans and Constantius II).
