Coin Description Constans, AE 17 mm, Grade?? , the coin is very well centered and and shows almost perfect detail, RBC 381, RIC VIII Siscia 87.
Obverse The portrait is of Constans a rosetta diademed, draped and cuirassed bust looking right. The legend reads CONSTANS PF AVG meaning: CONSTANS (his name) PF (Pius Felix / Dutiful and Wise) AVG Augustus which defines him as being the emperor. The legend is broken which is a sign of the highest respect and signifies him as the senior Augustus
Reverse Two soldiers standing on either side of a labarum, each holding an inverted spear (signifying peace) and shield. The legend reads GLORIA EXERCITVS which translates as "Glory of the Army" or "Glory to the Army".
Mint The exergue reads ASIS meaning the first officina (Alpha) of the Siscia mint the crescent is a mint series mark.
