Coin Description Constans, AE 15mm, Grade?? , very nice dark patina (not quite visible from the picture) but very worn especially the reverse, RIC VIII Cyzicus 22, RBC 381
Obverse The portrait is of Constans a laureate bust looking right. The legend reads DN CONSTANS PF AVG meaning: DN (Dominus Noster /our lord showing the emperor to be the supreme ruler) CONSTANS (his name) PF (Pius Felix / Dutiful and Wise) AVG Augustus which defines him as being the emperor. The legend is broken which is a sign of the highest respect and signifies him as the senior Augustus
Reverse Two soldiers standing on either side of military standard, each holding an inverted spear (signifying peace) and shield. The legend reads GLORIA EXERCITVS which translates as "Glory of the Army" or "Glory to the Army".
Mint The exergue reads SMK G  meaning SM (Sacred Moneta / Sacred Money) K (for Cyzicus) and G (gamma) stands for the 3rd workshop of Cyzicus (Kapu Dagh in modern Turkey north-east) the dot is a mint series mark.
